Drug Prevention is an important way to combat the spread of drugs

Prevention of drug-related crimes among young people became the topic of conversation between representatives of the North Kazakhstan Region Police Department and university students. The students were told about the harm of drug use, the inevitability of criminal liability for any actions related to illegal drug trafficking. Using practical examples, police officers showed that the price of illegal easy money is actually a long prison term and broken human lives. Students were also shown videos about the process of stopping drug crimes. Unfortunately, the spread of synthetic drugs is gaining momentum in the world. And a large percentage of those involved in this illegal process are among the youth.

"Since the beginning of the year, the North Kazakhstan Region Police Department has identified 193 drug-related crimes. More than 150 kg of drugs have been seized from illegal trafficking. 78 people were held accountable of criminal activity. According to our analysis, more than half of them are young people ranging from 16 to 25. The age of people involved in illegal drug trafficking has changed. If previously these crimes were committed by asocial individuals aged 25 to 40 with multiple convictions, now it’s by young people of various social backgrounds looking for a quick buck," said Deputy Chief of the North Kazakhstan Region Police Department Askar Muhametkaliev.

Prevention is still the primary goal of reducing drug crime. Therefore, such talks are intended to inform students in detail about the consequences of storing and distributing drugs.
